Cost of Living Crisis Hitting Rutherglen Families Hard, Says Allan Lyons

Reform UK candidate Allan Lyons has spoken movingly about the genuine hardship he is encountering as he campaigns across Rutherglen and Cambuslang, with family after family telling him that rising costs are stretching their finances to breaking point. The constituency, which includes some of South Lanarkshire's most densely populated urban communities, has seen significant numbers of residents turn to food banks and community support services as energy bills, food prices, and household costs have risen dramatically in recent years. 'When I knock on doors in Rutherglen South or Cambuslang East, I hear the same thing again and again: people are struggling,' said Allan. 'They are working hard, they are doing everything right, and they are still not able to make ends meet. That is the failure of government, not of people.' Reform UK's cost of living agenda focuses on cutting income tax for lower and middle earners, reducing the burden of green levies on household energy bills, and eliminating the excessive government spending and waste that Allan says is costing every family money. He is also calling on South Lanarkshire Council to ensure that the £20 million community investment fund is directed towards the most deprived households in the constituency. 'Every penny of public money should be focused on the people who need it most,' he said.
