Road Safety Improvements Welcomed as Rutherglen Infrastructure Gets Investment
Reform UK candidate Allan Lyons has welcomed road safety improvements in Rutherglen, including the upgrade of a crossing point that has made the area more accessible and safer for pedestrians and cyclists, while calling for a comprehensive programme of further transport investment across the constituency.
The crossing upgrade, which improves accessibility for people with mobility challenges, forms part of broader efforts to improve the transport environment in Rutherglen. However, Allan says much more needs to be done across the constituency to address congestion, road condition, and pedestrian safety.
'Road safety improvements that make our streets safer and more accessible for everyone are always welcome,' said Allan. 'But this is just a start. There are junctions, crossings, and road surfaces across the Rutherglen constituency that need urgent attention and investment.'
Allan is also calling for action on major road works in Rutherglen that have been flagged as upcoming improvements, saying he wants to see these delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption to residents.
'Good transport infrastructure — safe roads, reliable buses, accessible footpaths — is fundamental to quality of life. I will push for the investment this constituency needs to become the connected, accessible community it should be,' he said.
